Ball keen to set up new production unit in Telangana

Ball Beverage Packaging is keen to invest ₹700 crore to set up a new production unit in Telangana, India.

Ball, who supply aluminium beverage cans to the beer and soft drinks industry, will create around 500 jobs as a result of the investment.

This announcement was made by Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu. He highlighted that only 2% of beer in Telangana is currently packaged in cans, compared to approximately 25% in Karnataka and Maharashtra.

To increase the use of aluminium cans for beer packaging, he mentioned that changes to Telangana’s Excise Policy would be required. He plans to discuss this matter with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

The Minister further explained that by packaging 500 ml of beer in aluminium cans, excise duty would be lowered, potentially increasing the government’s revenue by ₹285 crores annually.

Additionally, Ball Beverage Packaging has expressed readiness to supply cans for Coca-Cola’s new bottling unit, which is expected to be established in Peddapalli district.

This assurance was given during the Minister’s recent visit to the United States, where he engaged in discussions with Coca-Cola executives in Atlanta, Georgia.
