Akzonobel honours Pride Month

Akzonobel Pride Month

Akzonobel colleagues from around the world have joined a live virtual event to celebrate Pride Month.

As part of the programme, the company welcomed a new Dutch chapter of ‘True Colours’ network at AkzoNobel, where staff got to know some of the people involved in championing LGBTI+ inclusion at AkzoNobel and have fun while learning more about the community.

“We wanted to make the Dutch chapter because, while we live in one of the best countries in terms of queer rights, we know there is still a lot to do to make everyone in the community to feel welcome, supported and protected.

“We hope we can help all our colleagues to live their best lives and always be respectful towards each other,” said Rudi Vieira Martins, member of the True Colours board in the Netherlands.

For AkzoNobel, a diverse and inclusive workplace means creating an organization where people feel included, respected and engaged, said a statement from the company. The statement reads:

“We want to attract talent from across all demographics and make sure our workforce reflects the societies and markets in which we do business. We believe it’s also important that our management teams reflect the diversity of our overall workforce, because diverse and inclusive teams are better able to understand our customers and innovate to meet their current and future needs.”
