China’s aluminium foil exports grow by 19.28%

Aluminium foil exports from China rose by 19.28% in August, according to customs data from the country.

China exported 115,400 tonnes last month, a month-on-month increase of 19.28%, while this also represents a year-on-year increase of 14.08%.

United Arab Emirates, Mexico, India, Japan, Indonesia and South Korea are among the top importers of China’s aluminium foil.

Thailand is the largest importer and accounted for 10.86% of China’s total aluminium foil exports and this was 12,500 tonnes in August.

China exported 9,000 tonnes of aluminium foil to the European Union, which accounted for 7.77%.

The European Union originally planned to impose import tariffs on aluminium rolled products originating from China with effect from October 2021.

But later on, decided to suspend the duties until July after receiving complaints. So, the volume and proportion of aluminium foil exports from China to the EU in the next few months is unlikely to fall sharply, even amid rigid demand.
