Anheuser-Busch to upgrade can line at St. Louis brewery

Anheuser-Busch announced a $50 million investment at its St. Louis brewery. The investment includes the addition of a new dedicated seltzer building, which becomes the first addition to the campus in over 15 years.

“Our planned $1 billion investment in our facilities over two years is about supporting our local communities by creating and sustaining jobs as our nation continues to navigate the economic recovery,” said Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch.

“St. Louis is our hometown and plays a critical role in enabling our innovations and producing the highest-quality products for our consumers to enjoy. This isn’t just an investment in our facilities, it’s an investment in our hometown community.”

The investment is part of the brewer’s announcement made at the beginning of 2021 to invest $1 billion over two years in the company’s facilities to accelerate the nation’s recovery and drive economic prosperity in communities across the U.S. This project is in addition to the $100 million renovation of EverGrain’s new US headquarters , which is near completion, at the St. Louis campus.

“Today’s announcement is great news for working families in Missouri and a great sign for Missouri’s economic future. Anheuser-Busch has deep roots in our community dating back over 160 years and is one of the leading contributors to the Show Me State’s economy,” said Congressman Jason Smith (R-MO).

“Their additional $50 million investment is a fitting tribute to that legacy and will ensure our local communities, including the over 3,000 workers who call Missouri home, continue to grow and thrive. I congratulate the company on its announcement, and will continue to work with our state and local partners to make Missouri well-positioned for future investment.”

The investment will enable St. Louis to continue to bolster its reputation as a high-quality brewer by increasing and enhancing its brewing and packaging capacity and capabilities to meet consumer demand.

Specific updates include the upgrading of one of the can lines and a dedicated seltzer building to house new systems and equipment for brewing some of Anheuser-Busch’s most popular products, including Bud Light Seltzer and Michelob ULTRA Organic Seltzer, among others.

Additionally, the brewery is being outfitted with advanced technical equipment that allows for the streamlined addition of flavours to the seltzer liquid.
