youtheory has made notable efforts to protect marine life with its latest omega supplement and eco-friendly packaging.

The new Ocean-Friendly Omega capsules are sourced from algae oil and will be housed in sustainable aluminum bottles. Cindy Sherman, youtheory’s VP of Marketing, calls this an “obvious choice” for a sustainable, ocean-friendly solution.

In addition to the product itself, youtheory aimed to go “above and beyond” in its commitment to ocean conservation by eliminating plastic from the packaging. Sherman highlights that plastic often ends up in the ocean, posing a danger to marine life. The company focused on three key packaging criteria: sustainability, durability, and premium quality.

Sherman said: “We wanted to differentiate ourselves with the Omega nutrient coming from plants instead of fish. 

“While this allows us to offer a vegan solution, we also wanted to leverage the ocean-friendly nature of not harming the fish. 

“We sought to reduce our environmental footprint by choosing materials that are recyclable and have a lower impact on the planet. Additionally, we needed a packaging solution that would maintain the integrity and freshness of our products,”

In early 2023, youtheory opted for a stock threaded aluminum bottle with a twist cap from Trivium Packaging. The bottle was customized with a tamper-evident neckband made from corn starch and an induction seal liner. According to Sherman, this packaging aligns perfectly with the company’s sustainability goals, offering 100% recyclability and a strong strength-to-weight ratio.

The aluminium packaging uses less material while still protecting the contents, providing a barrier against UV light, oxygen, and moisture, which meets youtheory’s durability standards. To ensure premium quality, youtheory sought a design that reflected its commitment to excellence and innovation.

Trivium delivered on this with a sleek, modern bottle that Sherman says enhances the premium feel of youtheory’s products, giving customers a superior experience. The packaging also includes custom graphics from youtheory, and incorporates How2Label, which provides consumers with information on the recyclability of each component.
