UK wine company Vinca has launched full-size aluminium wine bottles in Tesco stores.

The 100% recyclable 750ml aluminium wine bottles will be priced at £9 and be available in more than 300 stores.

The aluminium bottle weighs just 68g, compared to the average glass wine bottle that comes in at 450g.

Jack Green, the co-founder of Vinca, said: “We are so excited to finally share our fully recyclable full-sized aluminium wine bottles with the world! Our canned wines have quickly become the ‘go-to’ wine at music festivals and theatres, and on trains and airlines and now we’re delighted to introduce our new aluminium bottles. They have all the quality and deliciousness of premium Sicilian wine but with less environmental impact than the traditional glass.”

These aluminium wine bottles have been introduced for two main flavours: Organic Syrah & Nero D’avola Red (750ml; 12%) and Organic Catarratto White (750ml; 11%).

The Wine Buying Manager of Tesco, Sarah Robinson said: “We’re excited to stock Vinca wine in aluminium bottles which are lightweight, easy to transport and quick to cool, making them perfect for summer picnics and impromptu barbeques. In addition, the bottles are easy to recycle and protect the quality of the wine.”
