Novelis partners with Korea beverage manufacturer

Novelis Korea has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Dong-A Otsuka, Korea’s leading beverage manufacturer.

It will promote resource circularity through canned drinking water, ‘THE MASINDA’, which has been designated as an official sponsor product for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2025 (APEC 2025).

Dong-A Otsuka will incorporate QR codes on THE MASINDA cans, which will link consumers to information about aluminium’s superior recyclability and circularity attributes.

These cans are manufactured from aluminium sheet containing a high percentage of recycled content, produced at Novelis’ Yeongju plant.

Recycling aluminium requires 95% less energy used and results in 95% less greenhouse gas emissions than producing aluminium from bauxite. Moreover, aluminium is infinitely recyclable without any loss of quality.

APEC 2025, scheduled to take place in Gyeongju, South Korea from October 27 to November 1, will carry the theme ‘Building a Sustainable Tomorrow’.

The choice of THE MASINDA packaged in aluminium cans made from Novelis’ low carbon high-recycled-content aluminium sheet, aligns with this theme and reinforces the message of sustainability.

Our partnership with Dong-A Otsuka underscores the importance of sustainable packaging solutions in the beverage industry. Together, we are paving the way for a greener future, one can at a time.
