PABC sees Q1 results rise
Pakistan Aluminium Beverage Cans Limited (PABC) reported net sales of Rs 4.65 billion for the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a 1% year-on-year rise.
Gross profit for the period rose 4.29% to Rs 1.445 billion, up from Rs 1.385 billion in Q1 2024.
While major beverage players such as Coca-Cola Pakistan and Pepsi-Cola International experienced mid-single-digit declines in local sales volumes, PABC managed to sustain its revenue.
In fact, the company outperformed many of its peers in a market shaken by geopolitical challenges, which led to a 7% drop in Western soda brand sales across the Middle East and South Asia during the first half of 2024, according to NielsenIQ.
PABC, which supplies cans to a variety of beverage producers, faced potential setbacks due to its close links with multinational clients. However, the firm successfully diversified its portfolio by catering to a growing number of regional and domestic beverage companies—many of which are shifting from plastic to aluminium packaging.
The company recently completed a capacity expansion project, lifting its annual output capability to 1.3 billion cans. With plant utilisation reaching roughly 89% outside of the traditional off-peak season (October to January), PABC has expanded its clientele to include energy drinks, dairy beverages, and iced coffee brands—many of which have capitalised on consumer boycotts of international soda brands.
