Back British Metals to launch Supporter Network
Back British Metals (BBM) will officially launch its new Supporter Network this week, at the UK Metals Expo, taking place on 10–11 September at the NEC in Birmingham.
The campaign team is inviting businesses, organisations and individuals from across the sector to join the initiative and add their voice to a growing movement that champions the UK metals industry as a strategic national asset.
Visitors will be able to meet the BBM team at the Cast Metals Federation stand (H60) across both days of the Expo to learn more about the campaign and sign up as supporters.
The Supporter Network builds on the momentum of the Back British Metals campaign, which was created to provide an independent, cross-sector voice for the industry.
Its mission is to secure smarter government policy, promote investment in UK supply chains, strengthen circular economy opportunities, and raise the profile of the metals sector as critical to the UK’s economic and industrial future.
Supporters will receive regular campaign updates, access to policy briefings and event invitations, and tailored supporter assets to showcase their involvement. Supporter status is non-funded and open to all, with no fees attached – only a shared commitment to the cause. To maintain consistency and integrity, BBM’s logo cannot be used independently on products or campaigns without permission, but approved graphics and promotional materials will be provided.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Nadine Bloxsome, CEO of the Aluminium Federation and a founding partner of Back British Metals, said: “The UK metals sector is vital for national resilience, job creation and decarbonisation. By launching our Supporter Network at UK Metals Expo, we want to bring together the many voices across the value chain and create a stronger platform for change.
“This is an opportunity for everyone – from producers and recyclers to fabricators and processors, manufacturers and end users – to stand behind a simple, powerful message: it’s time to Back British Metals.”
The launch of the Supporter Network marks an important step in BBM’s efforts to highlight the industry’s contribution to the UK economy and ensure it is central to the government’s new Industrial Strategy.
With UK Metals Expo bringing together thousands of industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders, the event provides the perfect backdrop for BBM to expand its reach and strengthen its voice.
Delegates are encouraged to visit stand H60 at UK Metals Expo on 10–11 September to meet the BBM team, sign up as a supporter, and learn how they can play a part in backing the future of UK metals.
