Cointreau enters RTD market
Maison Cointreau has entered the ready-to-drink market with the debut of two canned Margaritas under the name Cointreau Cocktail Twists.
Available in Original Margarita and Passion Fruit Margarita, the new offerings aim to deliver a premium cocktail experience without the need for mixing or measuring.
Packaged in sleek 125ml cans at 12.5% ABV, the drinks are made from fully recyclable materials, reflecting the company’s sustainability priorities.
Each recipe features Tequila and natural ingredients, avoiding artificial colours and flavours while capturing the distinctive character of a classic Margarita.
The release comes as new research from Rémy Cointreau indicates that UK consumers are increasingly turning to cocktails at home during the festive season, with nearly six in ten planning to enjoy more mixed drinks over the holidays.
Both cocktails are produced at Maison Cointreau’s historic Angers distillery and were developed by Master Distiller Carole Quinton.
The Original Margarita blends Cointreau’s signature orange liqueur with Tequila and lime for a crisp, citrus-forward profile. The Passion Fruit Margarita introduces tropical notes while maintaining the balance expected from a bar-made serve.
Quinton said her goal was to combine distilling knowledge with mixology techniques to create cocktails that stay true to the Cointreau legacy while offering ease and consistency.
Designed for effortless enjoyment—either chilled straight from the can or served over ice—the new line caters to rising demand for well-made classics. Survey results show nearly half of UK consumers prefer timeless cocktails such as Margaritas over more seasonal concoctions, suggesting strong appeal for the new products.
Cointreau Cocktail Twists are now available at Waitrose and online via Waitrose.com for £4 per can
