Brazil to host Latin America’s first metal packaging expo in 2027

A new international meeting point for the metal packaging industry has officially secured its place on the global events calendar. From 6-8 April 2027, the Distrito Anhembi exhibition centre in São Paulo, Brazil, will host OneCan – Metal Can Summit & Expo, the first trade fair and congress exclusively dedicated to the metal packaging industry in Latin America.

Created through the joint efforts of three of the industry’s leading associations — Abralatas, ABEAÇO and ABAS — and driven by the real needs of the sector, OneCan will bring together the entire value chain of aluminium and steel packaging under one roof. Earlier this month, the event was officially introduced to the market during an exclusive gathering with partners, exhibitors and industry professionals in São Paulo. The presentation highlighted the event’s business opportunities, key attractions and long-term vision to position Latin America as one of the world’s leading hubs for the metal packaging industry.

The metal packaging sector plays a strategic role in Brazil’s economy. Together, the three founding associations represent companies generating more than BRL 55 billion (EUR 9.23 billion) in annual revenue and supporting approximately 52,000 direct jobs. Brazil also holds a prominent position on the global stage. The country is currently the fourth-largest aerosol producer in the world and the third-largest market for aluminum beverage cans, with more than 34 billion units sold annually.

Beyond traditional food and beverage applications, OneCan has been designed to represent the full diversity of the metal packaging industry. Among the sectors with the greatest growth potential are cosmetics, personal care, paints and coatings, household products, pharmaceuticals and industrial applications — all markets that continue to increase their demand for sustainable, recyclable and high-performance packaging solutions.

Organised by Koelnmesse Brasil, OneCan was created with the mission of connecting these diverse industries through a single platform focused on business, innovation and knowledge exchange. The event will showcase solutions in design, technology and circular economy, while also featuring an international congress organised around three main content tracks: innovation, sustainability and market trends. In addition, attendees will have access to an exclusive matchmaking programme connecting exhibitors with strategic buyers from Latin America and other regions worldwide.

Leveraging synergies with the Food & FoodTec sectors, OneCan will take place simultaneously with Anuga Select Brazil, the leading food and beverage trade fair in Brazil and one of Koelnmesse’s flagship events in the country. Koelnmesse’s global expertise in organising leading trade fairs across multiple industries will enable São Paulo to welcome a diverse range of markets, companies and international buyers, further expanding the reach of the Brazilian and Latin American metal packaging sectors. With operations spanning dozens of countries and a global business network built over decades, the company aims to transform São Paulo into a strategic hub for the metal packaging industry.

“We are building much more than a trade fair. OneCan is being created with a truly international vocation and the purpose of connecting the Latin American industry with the world’s leading markets. Koelnmesse’s experience allows us to bring together exhibitors, buyers and industry leaders from different segments, positioning São Paulo at the centre of business opportunities across the metal packaging value chain,” says Beni Piatetzky, Managing Director of Koelnmesse Brasil.
