Emballator expands Växjö facility to boost closure production capacity

As markets evolve and customer needs shift, packaging manufacturers require supply chain partners capable of scaling alongside them. Addressing this demand, Swedish packaging solutions provider Emballator has expanded its production facility in Växjö, Sweden, significantly increasing its operational capacity, capabilities, and flexibility.

The project involved transforming an older production hall with underutilised capacity into a modern, highly efficient manufacturing environment. To significantly upgrade the hall’s operational capabilities, key infrastructure enhancements included opening the ceiling structure, installing a larger overhead crane, establishing designated routes for Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) traffic, and upgrading the site’s cooling and compressed air systems.

Through this redevelopment, the number of machine positions in the hall has expanded from five to eight, with six positions specifically dedicated to larger injection moulding machines. This creates both immediate production capacity and the operational runway needed for future expansion as new customer projects emerge.

The upgraded facility already provides available capacity for new business opportunities while enabling more efficient internal material flows through AGV-supported transport solutions. As demand continues to grow, the expanded hall gives Emballator greater flexibility to support both existing and new customers.

“This investment is about creating the capacity and flexibility needed to grow together with customers,” said Anna Hammarstedt, Technical & Maintenance Manager at Emballator. “By expanding and optimising the production hall in Växjö, Emballator is strengthening its ability to support higher volumes, new projects, and reliable deliveries for years to come. At the same time, a production environment has been created that gives room to continue developing and improving operations as demand evolves.”

The expansion has been designed with long-term growth in mind. With increased machine capacity, modernised infrastructure, and improved production flows, the site is equipped to meet a broad range of customer requirements for high-quality closure solutions.

The installation of new equipment is already underway, with the first injection moulding machine set up in the new hall at the start of 2026. By the end of the year, four additional large-segment injection moulding machines will be fully operational, further strengthening manufacturing capabilities.

For brand owners and industrial clients relying on high-performance closure solutions, the investment provides increased manufacturing capacity, improved scalability, and supply chain resilience. Expanding capacity not only accommodates higher production volumes, but also enhances consistency and dependability over the long term.

The Växjö upgrade forms part of Emballator’s ongoing commitment to expanding its manufacturing capabilities and creating value across its customer base. Additional site improvements are already planned to further optimise production flows and increase machine park utilisation as market demand continues to grow.
