Luxembourg court lifts block on Ardagh Metal Packaging sale

Ardagh Holdings can resume preparations for a potential sale of its stake in Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) after a Luxembourg court withdrew an order that had stopped the process.

A summary judge at the district court of Luxembourg withdrew the order on 14 October. It had prohibited Ardagh Holdings from selling all or part of its interests in AMP.

The order followed an ex parte application from certain minority holders of senior secured toggle notes due 2027. The notes were issued by ARD Finance, a parent company of Ardagh Group before its recapitalisation transaction completed in November 2025.

With the order withdrawn, Ardagh Holdings said it can now re-engage with its advisers to prepare for a potential sale of AMP, as set out in its announcement of 13 August.

Ardagh Holdings is the ultimate parent of Ardagh Group, which supplies metal beverage and glass container packaging. The group operates 58 metal and glass production facilities in 16 countries, employs around 19,000 people and has sales of approximately $9.6 billion.

AMP supplies metal beverage cans to brand owners across Europe and the Americas. It operates 23 production facilities in nine countries, employs around 6,500 people and reported sales of $5.5 billion in 2025.
