Method Products has launched a new aluminium soap dispenser made from recycled materials.

The company’s cruelty-free and vegan products have usually been available in recycled plastic bottles, but to encourage refilling, they have switched to aluminium for its latest launch.

Available in two colours at launch—silver and rose gold—with black and gold joining the lineup in July.

“Method has a legacy of sustainable product development spanning the last two decades. With this collection, we’re bringing in a new era of sustainable design at Method,”  said Sean McGreevy, senior director of industrial design at Method. 

“We’re in the process of building a platform of durable, refillable, reusable home essentials and prioritising refill innovation across our entire business to drive circular behaviour. Our goal is to put sustainable design within reach of every Method consumer.

“A new material requires an entirely new set of constraints to design within. This clean, edited aesthetic is straightforward, modern, and bold. 

“We didn’t want to paint the bottle to hide the innate qualities of such a beautiful material but rather select finishes to complement your home’s faucets and fixtures. 

“We’ve eliminated the need for a plastic label by silk-screening the graphics directly on the bottle. Additionally, aluminium opens up a world of possibilities when it comes to digital printing.”

Director of packaging development at Method, Joseph Hunter, wrote on LinkedIn: “I’m equally excited and grateful about this launch because we were fortunate enough to continue working the last 15 months given the demand for cleaning products, and also able to get a beautiful line of fully custom aluminium bottles and pumps designed and commercialised all working remotely. 

“It wasn’t always easy and certainly highlighted the value of us being physically together for product development work but we did it and it’s really a stunning line and I can’t wait for it to hit shelves.”
