Molson Coors to build new hard seltzer canning line in UK

Molson Coors will build a new hard seltzer canning line at its brewery in Burton-on-Trent.

It is part of a £25million investment being made by the company, and it will also make upgrades to its beer and cider packaging facilities, according to a report in The Times.

Work on the canning line will being this year and it will be operational in spring 2022. It will produce Molson Coors’ Three Fold hard seltzer brand, which was launched this month.

The hard seltzer is available in 330ml cans and comes in red berries, citrus and tropical flavours.

Molson Coors employs more than 1,000 people at the 34-hectare site and has invested around £100million over the last decade to modernise the historic brewery.

Phil Whitehead, managing director of Molson Coors in western Europe, said: “The hard seltzer and ready-to-drink categories present a huge opportunity for growth.

“The [ready-to-drink] category is the fastest-growing in alcohol globally and while it’s early days, we’re seeing strong indications that hard seltzers will prove as popular in western Europe as they have in the US.”
