New president at Metal Packaging Europe
Metal Packaging Europe has appointed Oliver Graham, CEO Global-Ardagh Metal Beverage at Ardagh Group, as its new President.
Graham was elected by the MPE Board during its Annual General Meeting on 9-10 June 2021 and assumes his new role effective immediately. He is joined by two Vice-Chairs, Georg Kasperkovitz, President of Trivium Packaging Europe, and Paulo Sousa, Managing Director of Colep Packaging.
“Having served on the MPE Board for just over a year, it is a real honour and privilege to have been elected as the new MPE President,” said Oliver Graham. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in the industry and the team at MPE to build on the achievements of my predecessor, with the ultimate goal of establishing the industry as a leading force in the EU Circular Economy and making metal the preferred material for sustainable consumer and industrial packaging.”
“On behalf of all at Metal Packaging Europe, I am delighted to welcome Oliver as the new President of the association,”said Leonie Knox-Peebles, CEO of Metal Packaging Europe. “As a long-term Member of MPE, with extensive experience in the industry, I am certain that his leadership will prove a great asset for our ambitious and expanding association and propel the industry on to even bigger and better things.”
As well as serving on the MPE Board for just over a year, Oliver Graham has also held the position of MPE Beverage Board Chair and brings with him over 14 years of experience in the metal packaging industry. He replaces Didier Sourisseau, EMEA President at Crown Holdings, Inc., who stepped down from the position in May of this year.
In addition to these important changes at Board level, MPE also welcomed Canpack, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of beverage cans, as a new Corporate Member during its AGM. The addition of this important new Member serves to illustrate the growing influence and ambition of the association and will give the industry a more powerful and united voice at European level. Metal packaging components manufacturer FEMM and global bottle cap manufacturer Pelliconi also joined the association as Associate Members.
