German brewer Dortmunder Brauereien has invested in a new canning line from KHS Group.

In September, KHS shipped itys KHS Innofill Can DVD line, to the production shop of the Dortmunder Brauereien located in the northern part of Dortmund city in Germany, where it will form the heart of the new canning line.

With an output of up to 80,000 beverage cans per hour, Dortmunder Brauereien will use about 50% less electricity and 65% less water compared to its previous line.

“With this investment, the Dortmunder Brauereien are meeting the growing demand for cans as convenience packaging and, at the same time, are pursuing sustainability goals,” said a spokesperson from KHS.

The new system is set to go into operation in November.

Dortmunder Brauereien is Germany’s largest private brewery group and part of the family-owned company Dr. August Oetker KG in Bielefeld.
