Brewery donate new beer profits to charity

Wellington Brewery has produced a new beer with 100% of the profits going to Guelph Wellington Women-In-Crisis (GWWIC).

Brave Noise Pale Ale is a global collaboration with a big goal: to foster a safe and discrimination-free beer industry.

What started out as a simple question on Brienne Allan’s Instagram story: “Have you ever experienced sexism in the beer industry?” quickly became the inquiry that sent shockwaves throughout the craft beer world.

To honour those who have spoken out about gender discrimination, racism, sexual assault, and harassment; and to bring further awareness to the issues that women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals face in craft beer, the brewery are participating in this initiative and donating 100% of the profits from the sale of this beer to GWWIC.

Wellington Brewery invited Jensen Williams, Public Educator at GWWIC, to their tap room to discuss how to create a safe workplace and together we created a pledge board with thoughts from Welly staff members on how they plan to foster a discrimination-free environment.

An important piece of the Brave Noise initiative is to make the code of conduct public.

The company’s Human Resources Manager, Nicole Weeks came up with the policies they are using to move forward with clarity and intention, and here’s a little snippet:

All employees, managers, visitors, customers, and third parties of Wellington Brewery are subject to their Code of Conduct.

This code applies to all activities which take place on Wellington’s premises, including interpersonal, and electronic communications, or which are directly related to the workplace and during any job-related task or activity, including social media, conferences, training sessions, travel, or social functions that are  away from the workplace but resulting from work.

Wellington Brewery defines Harassment as unwelcome conduct or comments, either directly against an individual in the workplace or made in a general manner that contribute to an environment that is hostile or lacking respect or dignity. It includes any behaviour or comments that are known to be unwelcome, offensive, isolating, and demeaning.
