thyssenkrupp starts new tinplate academy

Tinplate Academy

Thyssenkrupp Rasselstein is now offering its customers a Tinplate Academy – a range of digital training courses.

“The pandemic has made direct contact with our customers on-site more difficult,” said Lutz Thannhäuser, Head of Technical Customer Service (Australia, Italy, UK, Brazil). “It’s important to us, however, to keep in touch with our customers and to ensure the best possible advice.

“In addition to our tried-and-tested on-site training courses, we are now also providing our customers with a digital training offering,”

The tinplate academy offers training courses, virtual plant and equipment tours, and a selection of high-quality slides on the product and its possible applications, on the sustainability of packaging steel, and on a wide range of other topics from the world of tinplate. Customers are expressly invited to request individual topics, which will then be prepared and offered as part of the tinplate academy training.

Users can find training courses on offer via thyssenkrupp Rasselstein’s Packaging Steel app and request them directly from the company’s Technical Customer Service department. The tinplate academy complements the established offerings and contributes a new element to digitalisation in customer communication, without neglecting personal contact with customers on-site.

Online training for customers

The tinplate academy supports customers’ employees in getting to know packaging steel better and answering questions on handling the material and further processing. The Technical Customer Service department can also provide detailed recommendations for process optimisation, such as thickness reductions. In addition, the tinplate academy now enables thyssenkrupp Rasselstein to respond to training needs even more quickly, offering customers significant time savings and eliminating the need for travel.

Additional elements will be integrated into the tinplate academy over the coming months. As an example, the company is working on bringing details of tinplate production to life using virtual reality allowing customers to experience individual areas of packaging steel production or product testing in a realistic way. All training courses are available in German, English and Spanish.
