Novelis breaks ground on aluminium recycling centre

Novelis held a ground-breaking ceremony at the aluminium producer’s new $365million recycling centre in Guthrie, Kentucky.

The new recycling centre will provide jobs for around 140 people in the local area.

Novelis wrote on Twitter: “We held a groundbreaking today in Guthrie, Ky. for our $365M automotive #aluminum #recycling centre. 

“The new site will reduce carbon emissions by 1mil+ tons/yr, marking a milestone in our #sustainability journey. Thanks @GovAndyBeshear, @SenRandPaul and many others for joining!”

“This ground-breaking marks a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and supports our automotive customers’ carbon reduction targets as well,” said Tom Boney, executive vice president and president of Novelis North America.

“The Commonwealth of Kentucky continues to be a great partner for us, and we are proud to build on the rich 40-year history of recycling aluminium in Kentucky. We look forward to deepening our relationships to ensure our facility has a lasting, beneficial impact in the region.”
