PABC plans to increase capacity after $8m investment

Pakistan Aluminium Beverage Cans Limited (PABC) plan to increase capacity to 950 million cans per year following an $8 million investment.

In a corporate briefing to investors, the company said that the expansion will be completed by June and increases capacity from 700 million cans per year.

PABC sells 60% of its cans to the domestic market, with demand in Pakistan at around 1billion per year, according to estimations.

The 250ml can size continues to prove the most popular.

The remaining 40% is sold through exports, with 35% of them going to the Afghanistan market.

The other 5% of exports goes to various international markets.

The company said: “The overall exports outlook is positive and management is eying new customers, one more international market will be added in the next quarter.”

PABC is the country’s only manufacturer of aluminium beverage cans and supplies the likes of PepsiCo and Coca-Cola in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
