Recycled aluminium part of Nivea’s 2025 Sustainability Initiatives

Nivea announced its 2025 Sustainability Initiatives – and that includes a new tin made from recycled aluminium.

The Beiersdorf brand has begun reformulating and repackaging its products, with a focus on sustainable packaging and climate conscious manufacturing.

This includes a redesign of its iconic Nivea Creme, in its signature blue tin – now made with 80% recycled aluminium.

Nivea’s goal is to use 1.4 tons of recycled aluminium this year.

It also wants to use plastic more responsibly and reduce its plastic use where it can.

It said: “At Nivea, we are on a mission to use plastic responsibly within our product packaging, guided by the principles of the circular economy.

“Our approach is straightforward: we reduce plastic wherever possible, we recycle plastic as much as we can, we replace it when it makes sense to do so – to create plastic-free packaging –  and we enable you to reuse our packaging. To underline our commitment, we are pursuing ambitious targets.”
