Canned tuna brand to launch on Amazon in US after Cardi B frenzy

South Korea’s leading canned food producer, Dongwon F&B, is set to officially launch its popular canned tuna range on Amazon in November, marking a significant step in its US market expansion. 

The move follows a surge in global attention after rapper Cardi B showcased Dongwon’s spicy tuna in a viral Instagram post.

The company will initially offer its Gochu (hot pepper) Tuna and Super Tuna varieties online, with plans to introduce vegetable, curry, and “Dongwon Matcham” tuna depending on sales performance. 

Dongwon is also eyeing new export destinations, including Qatar and other Middle Eastern markets, as global demand for its products continues to climb.

The brand has seen a 10% rise in tuna exports so far this year, with overseas sales jumping 15% in recent months following the appointment of BTS member Jin as brand ambassador.

Launched in 1982, Dongwon Tuna remains a Korean household staple, with over 200 million cans sold annually and more than 8 billion units sold to date.
