Ball launches Aluminum Assists fan tournament to drive green action at Ball Arena

Ball Corporation (NYSE: BALL) has announced the launch of Aluminum Assists, a season-long sustainability challenge to engage fans of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche to take green actions and choose aluminium – the recyclable champion of beverage packaging.

Building on the momentum of last season’s Green Action League, which united thousands of Colorado sports fans behind everyday sustainable actions, Aluminum Assists also encourages fans to take friendly rivalry to real world impact. Throughout the NBA and NHL regular seasons, Nuggets and Avs fans will compete head-to-head in a tournament-style competition to see which fanbase can take the most verified green actions, all tracked through a dynamic challenge platform.

Fans can score points for their team by completing daily, weekly and monthly sustainability challenges with opportunities to win exclusive prizes, including lower-level tickets, swag bags, suite nights and signed items. From recycling and ridesharing to Ball Arena to joining in on the fan centric Recycle Rally, the challenges range from actions that fans can take inside or outside of the arena.

The campaign’s ultimate goal is to inspire fans to choose aluminum, the most sustainable beverage packaging material, as part of their everyday routines. Aluminum can be recycled again and again, and 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today. In the U.S., an aluminum beverage can return to store shelves as a new can in as little as 60 days.

Mike Kelley, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Ball Corporation, said: “With Aluminum Assists, we’re channeling the competitive spirit of Colorado’s sports fans into a force for good. By rewarding small, everyday actions—like choosing aluminum – we’re showing that sustainability can be fun, impactful and accessible to everyone.”

Christian Braun, Guard for the Denver Nuggets, said: “It’s awesome to see fans rally for something bigger than the game. We’re all about teamwork, and with Aluminum Assists, every sustainable action counts toward a win, not just for the Nuggets, but for the planet.”

Scott Wedgewood, Goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche, added: “Avs fans bring incredible energy to Ball Arena. Now they can bring that same energy to recycling and sustainability. We want to prove Avalanche fans are the greenest in Colorado!”

Tom Gribbin, CEO at Rolling Green said: “We’re proud to partner with Ball Corporation, the Nuggets, and the Avalanche to make sustainability part of the fan experience. Aluminum Assists shows how sports can unite people around a shared goal, protecting the planet, and proves that every can recycled and every choice to go green really does make a difference.”

The program builds on Ball Arena’s leadership in sustainability – recycling over 3 million aluminum cups, cans, and bottles during the 2024–25 season – and continues Ball Corporation’s commitment to promoting circularity through sport.
