DrinkPAK to invest $195m in new facility
DrinkPAK, one of North America’s fastest-growing canned beverage manufacturers, is expanding to the East Coast with a large-scale production facility planned for Philadelphia.
The company will invest $195 million to establish its first Pennsylvania operation, an advanced manufacturing site expected to generate 174 jobs over the next three years.
The new plant will occupy a 1.4-million-square-foot, build-to-suit space on nearly 75 acres in the Bellwether District — a major redevelopment effort transforming the former Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery into a modern centre for industrial growth and innovation. Once completed, the Philadelphia site will serve as DrinkPAK’s flagship East Coast hub, offering expanded capability to produce and distribute a wide range of canned alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Governor Josh Shapiro said his administration pushed hard to secure DrinkPAK’s investment, calling the project a cornerstone for the Bellwether District and a significant win for regional manufacturing. The state will contribute $2 million toward the project through the Pennsylvania First program, and the company may also qualify for additional tax incentives, including those available within the site’s Keystone Opportunity Zone designation.
State officials said DrinkPAK’s move aligns with Pennsylvania’s long-term economic strategy to bolster advanced manufacturing. “This kind of investment strengthens our manufacturing base and opens new opportunities for workers,” said Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger.
DrinkPAK, founded in 2020, produces some of the fastest-growing beverage brands in the industry and offers full-service capabilities from formulation to packaging and distribution. CEO Nate Patena said the Philadelphia expansion will enhance the company’s ability to serve clients nationwide. “Our new facility reinforces our commitment to scale, flexibility, and top-tier manufacturing talent,” he said, noting strong collaboration with state and local partners.
HRP Group, the developer behind the Bellwether District, said DrinkPAK’s arrival marks a major step forward in transforming the site into a hub for next-generation industry. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker also praised the project, calling it evidence that the city is becoming a preferred destination for high-quality manufacturing operations.
The facility is expected to open in phases once construction is completed.
