Coca-Cola releasing cans with ‘local symbols’

Coca-Cola Celebrates America’s Semiquincentennial with Patriotic State Cans.

In anticipation of the United States’ 250th anniversary, Coca-Cola is launching a nationwide campaign that blends brand heritage with local pride. The beverage giant has unveiled a limited-edition collection of 52 unique mini cans, each dedicated to one of the 50 states, plus Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.

Artistic Tributes to Local Icons

The series features “iconic local symbols” that integrate classic Coca-Cola aesthetics with regional landmarks and cultural staples. According to a company spokesperson, the goal is to celebrate the distinct personality of every territory through clever visual storytelling.

While some designs are easily identifiable to most Americans, others lean into more specific local lore:

  • California: Features a surfer catching a wave.
  • Wisconsin: Showcases a block of cheese.
  • North Dakota: Highlights the wild prairie rose, the official state flower.
  • Minnesota: Incorporates the eight-pointed star found on the state flag.

More Than Just a Can: Prizes and Partnerships

As a primary partner of the America250 initiative—a nonpartisan effort to commemorate the nation’s milestone birthday—Coke is also launching a massive sweepstakes. By scanning specially marked packaging or cups, consumers can enter to win rewards, including:

  1. A brand-new Jeep.
  2. Collectible pins that mirror the state emblems found on the mini cans.

For those interested in participating without buying a drink, entries can be submitted via the company’s official website.

Availability and Specs

If you’re looking to collect the whole set, keep an eye on the smaller packaging. A representative confirmed that these designs are exclusive to 7.5-ounce mini cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. The standard 12-ounce cans will not feature the state artwork.

The collection is hitting shelves this month and will remain available through the end of 2026.
