TV chef Theo Michaels leads Canned Food UK’s latest campaign

TV chef Theo Michaels is fronting Canned Food UK’s latest campaign, Protein Packed Cans, bringing high-protein canned ingredients into focus through a series of simple, accessible recipes. Theo is a professional chef, presenter, award-winning author, previous MasterChef contestant and a regular on BBC Morning Live as guest chef and off-site presenter. 

As an official CANbassador, Theo Michaels’ latest partnership with Canned Food UK builds on the success of previous campaigns, showcasing the versatility, affordability and convenience of canned foods, while tapping into growing consumer demand for protein-rich meals that are cost-effective and easy to prepare at home.

The Protein Packed Cans series introduces four recipes, each carefully developed by the TV chef to highlight how everyday cupboard staples can deliver impressive protein content and nutritional value without compromising on flavour. By combining ingredients such as canned fish, beans and pulses the recipes demonstrate how households can cook smart.

Among the featured dishes is a Butterbean & Tuna Bake, a twist on the traditional Cypriot Gigantes Plaki, alongside a Warm Mediterranean Lentil Salad, Brazilian style Black bean stew and a Butternut Squash and Halloumi Curry. All the recipes are designed to suit midweek meals, batch cooking and casual dining occasions. 

Theo Michaels says: “Canned food is often underestimated but it’s a fantastic source of nutrition and flavour. Through this latest Canned Food UK campaign, we’re showing just how easy it is to create satisfying, protein-packed meals using ingredients many people already have in their cupboards.

Canned Food UK champions the benefits of canned food and is run by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA). From family cooking to cost-conscious shopping, Canned Food UK works to highlight how canned food means nutritious options remain within affordable reach for households. As well as providing everyday convenience, the metal packaging used to protect the food has a high recycling rate across the UK thanks to its ability to be easily recycled over and over again.
