Plasmatreat has expanded its industrial surface treatment portfolio with AURORA-Plasma, a low-pressure plasma technology designed for applications including medical technology and electronics.

The technology has complemented the company’s existing Openair-Plasma and PlasmaPlus portfolios since early 2026, extending its offering from atmospheric-pressure plasma and functional nanocoatings to low-pressure plasma.

AURORA-Plasma operates in a defined vacuum process chamber and is designed for complex geometries, porous materials and applications requiring uniform, full-surface treatment. Its multi-frequency approach and ability to use different process gases allow the plasma properties to be tailored to the material, component and application.

According to Plasmatreat, the expanded portfolio allows it to select technologies according to individual process requirements rather than applying a single plasma technology across different applications. Factors influencing the choice of process include component geometry, material properties, production speed and quality requirements.

Support from development to production

The company said process control, reproducibility and efficiency are key considerations across its technology portfolio.

Plasmatreat also provides feasibility studies, process development, application validation and support with the integration of production processes. It develops custom OEM solutions for machine builders and integrators that can be incorporated into existing or new plant designs.

These activities are supported by a global network of technology centres, sales and service companies and application experts.

Second generation takes operational control

The portfolio expansion follows a leadership transition at the family-owned company. Lukas and Magnus Buske have served as managing directors since mid-2025, with each overseeing their respective business divisions.

Both have held operational management positions at Plasmatreat for several years and have been involved in the company’s technological and international development. Founder Christian Buske has gradually transferred operational responsibility to his sons over the past few months.

The company will highlight its latest developments at the Plasmatreat Innovation Days on 23–24 September at its sales office in Birkenfeld, near Stuttgart.

The event will focus on the future development of industrial surface treatment processes and emerging technological requirements, particularly in medical technology, electronics and sustainable production. Customers, partners and other participants will also be able to discuss applications and future technology trends.
