BAMA invites industry-wide collaboration on aerosol recycling messaging
The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association invites both members and non-members to join an open online meeting on Monday 14th September to discuss how to improve aerosol recycling messaging.
The association will open the conversation to as many industry voices as possible to establish an aligned approach on how to improve aerosol recycling communications.
BAMA Chief Executive, Patrick Heskins says: “The ability to recycle is a defining strength of aerosols’ sustainability. Getting consumer messaging right is important and involves cross-functional discussion between marketing, sustainability, research and design and other departments in our industry.”
Collective action on aerosol recycling
Over 2026, BAMA has led focussed workshops to clarify the next actionable steps on aerosol sustainability. In April, it held a Collaborative Group Workshop on the Future of Aerosols, facilitated by the Retail Institute. As well as improving aerosol recycling and circularity outcomes, participants highlighted the need to strengthen communication and public understanding of aerosols.
At the Sustainability Roundtable in June, retailers, brand owners, valve and can manufacturers, and fillers highlighted aerosol recycling as a priority action area. The Aerosol Recycling Messaging Steering Group meeting now marks the first step in the association’s collective action ambitions.
Patrick Heskins adds: “It is now time for us to put the theory we have learned into practice. With the extensive industry knowledge we have, I am certain we can find the most effective means to improve recycling and messaging.”
BAMA invites anyone operating within the aerosol industry to bring their ideas, thoughts and comments to the discussion on the 14th September.
