Trivium Packaging wins IMDPA ‘Best of Category’ for Zephyrhills bottle and named Decorator of the Year

Trivium Packaging, a global supplier of infinitely recyclable metal packaging, has been recognised by the International Metal Decorating & Packaging Association (IMDPA) with two honours for excellence in metal packaging decoration and craftsmanship.

Trivium received Best of Category, “Aerosol & Bottles” in the 2026 Excellence in Quality Awards for its aluminium bottle produced for Primo Brands’ Zephyrhills water. The company also received the Decorator of the Year award, which recognises Mark Donegan, Graphics Technician, for his exceptional skill, technical precision, creativity, and contributions to metal decorating.

The IMDPA Excellence in Quality Awards recognise technical excellence in metal packaging decoration and manufacturing. Submissions are evaluated on factors including print quality, technical difficulty, coating finishes, registration, and the accuracy of the decorating process.

Judges include an unbiased panel of graphic arts professionals, including those with experience in metal decorating.

Produced at Trivium’s Youngstown, Ohio, facility, the Zephyrhills bottle was one of six designs created for Primo Brands’ MLB All-Star collection, alongside Arrowhead, Deer Park, Ice  Mountain, Ozarka, and Poland Spring. The 66 x 264 mm Zephyrhills aluminium bottle features  a full 360-degree design that captures the region’s character, culture, and visual identity.

The design showcases the technical possibilities of metal decoration through complex, tight registration graphics that use the raw aluminium substrate as an intentional design element. Metallic knockouts create shimmer, depth, and texture, while transparent inks build layered

gradients, and opaque spot colours provide crisp contrast and brand fidelity. The result is a vibrant, premium package that combines regional artwork, advanced print execution, and  the distinctive qualities of aluminium.

Trivium’s second IMDPA recognition honours Mark Donegan, Graphics Technician, as  Decorator of the Year. The award recognises individuals in the metal decorating industry for exceptional competency and craftsmanship. Nominees are evaluated on technical precision, creativity, problem-solving skills, innovation, and their contributions as team members beyond their standard responsibilities.

Donegan’s recognition marks the second win for Trivium in this category, highlighting the  technical expertise and craftsmanship required to deliver consistent, high-quality metal  decoration, and the important role skilled professionals play in translating complex designs  into finished metal containers.

Together, the two honours recognise both the technical excellence of Trivium’s metal  packaging and the people whose expertise drives quality throughout the decorating process.
