Irn-Bru to get new 330ml slim cans

Irn-Bru producer AG Barr will launch new 330ml slim cans for its full sugar variant.

The new packaging for Irn-Bru 1901 will reportedly launch in February after it was given permanent status in a 750ml glass bottle format in 2019.

According to the beverage producer, Irn-Bru 1901 already serves as an “important sales driver” for Scottish retailers.

Adrian Troy, marketing director at AG Barr, said: “As the food to go market continues to recover post-lockdowns, we recommend that retailers stock both formats of Irn-Bru 1901.”

AG Barr also announced this week that it was increasing its prices after packaging, ingredients and energy costs jumped.

The company, which also makes Rubicon drinks and Funkin cocktail mixers, had revenues of £267m in the year to January 30, up 17.5% on the previous year.

It also exceeded its own expectations – despite the spread of the Omicron Covid variant and restrictions on socialising. Sales are also higher than its pre-pandemic performance of £255.7m.

AG Barr expects its full-year profit before tax and one-off items to be slightly higher than its November estimate of £41m.
