The Savannah Downtown Business Association (SDBA) has invited local artists to submit design proposals for the inaugural “Savannah To-Go Cup” – a recyclable aluminium cup to be distributed through SDBA partners in Summer 2022. 

Selected designs will highlight the beauty of Savannah and the selected artist will receive a cash prize of $1,000. 

Applications for designs to be considered in the inaugural run of over 50,000 cups must be submitted by midnight on May 11, 2022.

“Our hope is that we’re getting these artists’ artwork out all over the world,” said Jackie Schott, the executive director of Savannah Downtown Business Association.

 “Hopefully, people come to Savannah, they end up getting one of our aluminium to-go cups and they take it home with them and that artwork is just a beautiful piece that’s featured.”

The 60-day pilot programme that started in August 2021, in partnership with Ball, in the city in Georgia proved to work well, according to participating restaurants.

The programme added aluminium cups as an option to fill to-go cups for alcoholic beverages and witnessed the use of around 50,000 cups
