Cuts for Cans raises 800lbs of food

The eighth annual Cuts for Cans event held by Studio 105 raised almost 800 pounds of food for the Fort St. John Salvation Army.

The event was held on March 9 and sees people able to get a free haircut in exchange for bringing in non-perishable food items.

Writing on social media, Fort St. John Salvation Army said: “Wow, a huge thank you to the whole team from @studio105 and all the customers who contributed to Cuts for Cans. Almost 800 lbs of food was donated to the Food Bank as well as cash and gift cards. Incredible!”

Executive director Jared Braun said: “The reality is all people, regardless of the economic situation we’re in, is feeling the pressure of increased food costs.

“What that has meant is a greater demand on services such as the Salvation Army.”

The event saw approximately 176 customers come for a free cut.
