Thousands of cans collected at Download Festival

Every Can Counts announced that it collected more than 25,000 cans at Download Festival.

The rock festival, held at Donnington Park from June 10-14, were encouraging people to recycle throughout the weekend.

This included telling people to ditch the single use plastic and make sure they recycled their packaging in the right place.

Writing on Facebook, Every Can Counts said: “Download Festival, you absolutely smashed it.

“From collecting cans and zooming around the festival on our soapboxes, to rocking out with Canzee — we were there all weekend helping to spread the message that #MetalRecyclesForever

“Here’s what went down: 

  • Over 25,000 cans collected for recycling
  • 1,700+ Downloaders took part in our recycling quiz
  • T-shirts, recycled aluminium keyrings & tattoos were awarded to this year’s recycling legends
  • Canzee met some seriously iconic Fanzees
  • Our two motorised soapboxes turned heads all weekend

“By the end of Sunday, the DOWNLOAD can cages were filled to the brim with your empty drink cans

Every Can Counts is a not-for-profit communications programme working to inspire, encourage and empower people to recycle their empty drink cans. 

The programme is funded through a partnership between drink can manufacturers, the aluminium recycling industry and drink brands. 

The programme’s vision is to achieve a 100% recycling rate for drink cans. Every Can Counts partners with a wide range of businesses, organisations, and events to work towards this goal, providing advice and support including free-to-use communications materials to help engage consumers with the benefits of recycling drink cans.
