Tennent’s launches canned lager tops

Tennent’s has launched a canned version of lager tops for the first time.

Made with the same Scottish ingredients and traditional recipe as the original beer, Tennent’s Tops is said to deliver a fresh, zesty edge with plenty of character.

The citrus element has been carefully blended with the beer’s hops, while increased carbonation enhances its crisp, refreshing taste, resulting in a light 3.4% ABV drink.

This release is the brewery’s second recent product launch, following the successful debut of its Bavarian Pilsner last October. Tennent’s Tops will be sold in packs of four 440ml cans and will be available in major supermarkets and convenience stores across Scotland from next month.

Hazel Alexander, senior brand manager for Tennent’s, said: “We’re excited to follow the success of our Bavarian Pilsner with Tennent’s Tops – a refreshing citrus twist on our beloved Tennent’s Lager.

“Consumer demand for flavoured beer is growing and is up £3 million in spend in the UK off trade, highlighting its importance on shelf.

“At 3.4 per cent Tennent’s Tops will also appeal to those looking for a reduced alcohol beer and complements our range which also includes Tennent’s Light and Tennent’s Zero.

“Summer is a key time with warmer weather often leading to more frequent socialising, longer sessions and daytime meet ups so it’s great to be able to offer consumers another Tennent’s option for summer, this time with the same great flavours as a pub classic.

“With more than 500 years of brewing experience we’re excited to bring new ranges to our portfolio, giving people more reasons to enjoy a Tennent’s.”
