Trivium hits 36% emission reduction in 2025 ESG performance surge

Global metal packaging leader Trivium Packaging has released its 2025 ESG Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Summary, revealing a significant leap in carbon reduction and sustainable sourcing as it closes in on its 2030 targets.

The early snapshot, published ahead of the company’s comprehensive Sustainability Report due later this year, indicates that the producer has successfully decoupled its growth from its carbon footprint. According to the data, Trivium has achieved a 36% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions compared to its 2020 baseline, alongside a 24% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.

These figures place the company firmly on the path to meeting its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) 2030 goals, which require 42% and 25% reductions, respectively.

Strengthening the Green Supply Chain

Beyond its own factory gates, Trivium is exerting significant influence on the broader value chain. In 2025, the company reported that 52% of its total purchase spend was directed toward suppliers with average or above-average ESG performance.

This is an increase from 49% in 2024, signaling a tightening of procurement standards and a commitment to transparency that the company claims is vital for the long-term resilience of the metal packaging sector.

Eco-Design Driving Revenue

The commercial viability of sustainable innovation was also highlighted in the summary. Eco-designed products accounted for 23% of Trivium’s total sales revenue in 2025. By integrating sustainability into the R&D phase, the manufacturer is increasingly supporting customer demand for high-performance, low-impact metal solutions.

On the social front, Trivium maintained a perfect record of community involvement, with 100% of its production sites participating in at least one local community engagement project during the year.

External Validation and Platinum Aspirations

Trivium’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by global benchmarks. For the third consecutive year, the company retained its place on the CDP Climate A-List, a prestigious ranking for climate transparency. Furthermore, the firm was awarded EcoVadis Gold status, placing it in the top 5% of all companies assessed globally.

To ensure the integrity of these claims, the environmental data has been independently verified by the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), providing limited assurance on the indicators reported.

Trivium expects to publish its full Sustainability Report in late 2026, which will be prepared in accordance with GRI Standards and provide a deeper dive into the methodologies behind these figures.
