Ball to expand aluminium can factory in Brazil

Ball

Ball Corporation will expand its aluminium can factory in Aguas Claras, according to reports.

Ball is the largest manufacture of aluminium beverage cans in Brazil, with 11 plants in the country alone.

Their capacity at the factory in Augas Claras, Brasilia, is set to expand to 180million units per month, as reported by GZH.

The State Foundation for Environmental Production (Fepam) has issued an installation licence, which will allow for the works to start.

Ball has been growing its aluminium packaging business in the country in recent months.

Last August, it completed the acquisition of Tubex Industria E Comercio de Embalagens Ltda., an impact extruded aluminium aerosol packaging business that included a manufacturing plant near Sao Paolo.

The business, now part of Ball’s aluminium aerosol packaging division, complements Ball’s global aluminium aerosol and slug business in the Americas, Europe and India.

The Itupeva plant included eight extruded aluminium aerosol can lines, and produces personal care packaging for global and local customers in Brazil.
