Independent US brewer installs new canning line

Tröegs Independent Brewing announced that it has installed a new state-of-the-art canning line at its brewery in Hershey, PA.

The project was completely one year after the brewer broke ground on a 15,000-square-foot addition to its packaging hall.

Cans of Tröegs beer are already rolling off the new canning line.

To learn the ins-and-outs of the equipment, it sent ten of our co-workers across the country to take notes from the manufacturers of their new can filler, box maker and conveyor systems.

“Having our packaging and maintenance teams get first-hand knowledge has been vital to the installation and fine tuning of each piece of equipment,” says our brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner.

Prior to the expansion, their bottling and canning lines shared the same conveyors and palletiser. Now, Tröegs can fill and package cans and bottles simultaneously.

“Our new line increases the production speed, capacity, and quality of our canned beer,” says Tröegs co-founding brother Chris Trogner. “We’ll also have the flexibility to work in some new pack types.”

“Ultimately, we’re positioning ourselves to be nimble,” says Chris. “The new canning line really just sets us up for success in the future.”
