Nampak appoints permanent CEO

Packaging company Nampak has appointed Phildon Roux as CEO, who served as interim CEO since April.

Mr Roux stepped in following the resignation of Erik Smuts following a substantial restructuring process.

At the time, the company said: “The size and nature of the CEO’s role has changed materially, resulting in the current incumbent having opted to step down.”

Mr Smuts had been Nampak CEO since 2020.

Mr Roux will name succeed the role permanently, taking effect from September 1.

He has 32 years experience in the consumer goods sector, having previously held board positions  as an executive and nonexecutive director at Pioneer, Tiger Brands, Oceana, Sea Harvest, Dairybelle, Langeberg and Ashton Foods and as chairperson of Tiauto.
