KitKat and Lion launch sustainable metal packaging
KitKat Ball products and Lion Pops are now available in stainless steel containers provided by Circolution.
Once the products have been consumed, the empty returnable packaging is collected directly from the consumer, then sorted, cleaned and refilled.
The deposit amount set at €2 is included in the purchase price and fully refunded to the consumer once the returnable packaging is returned.
This initiative is currently in the test phase and will be available for six months to residents of the Hauts-de-France region.
Bocoloco, an expert in reuse and project support, will supervise the traceability of containers in order to accelerate the learning of the experiment.
Charles Christory, CEO and co-founder Le Fourgon, said: “We are very pleased to see a large group like Nestlé reinvesting in reuse alongside us. This is expected by consumers, and it is a new positive market signal towards the end of single packaging in France.”
Mathieu Tuau, Director of Packaging and Sustainability Nestlé France, said: “Innovate, explore and experiment, it is in this spirit that the KITKAT and LION brands are taking their first steps in the deposit system with Le Fourgon, supported by CITEO as part of the “EncoRe plus de réemploi” initiative.
“Through this 6-month test, we want to assess consumer interest in this offer and try to provide a concrete solution to help reduce our impact on the environment. “
