Hydro’s entire network now ASI certified

Hydro

All 42 of Hydro’s aluminium extrusion operations in Europe have now certified against the ASI performance standard.

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) aims to see sustainability and human rights principles increasingly embedded in supply chains. ASI’s Performance Standard recognises the responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium.

In November 2018, Hydro’s aluminium extrusion plant in Hoogezand, the Netherlands, became the first extruder in the world to obtain the ASI Performance Standard certification. The Gloucester plant is now the most recent.

In between, Hydro Extrusions achieved ASI certification at its 40 other European operations.

“This is a remarkable achievement for our organisation in strengthening our position as the industry leader in sustainable business operations,” says executive vice president Paul Warton, who leads the business area Hydro Extrusions.

“But first I would like to congratulate our team in Gloucester on their ASI certification.

“In combination with the fact that our carbon footprint is among the lowest of any aluminium company, ASI certification provides our customers with the knowledge that Hydro remains dedicated to sustainability and responsibility.”
