Nespresso make recycled aluminium pledge

Nespresso revealed it aims to make all of its ranges with recycled aluminium by the end of this year.

The coffee brand’s capsules are already made with 80% recycled aluminium, but it is planning for this to go further.

Guillaume Chesneau, managing director of Nespresso UK and ROI, said: “Following the launch of 80% recycled aluminium capsules last year, our aim is for all Nespresso ranges to be made using recycled aluminium by the end of 2021.

“Businesses have an important role to play in addressing this issue and must take steps to reduce their environmental impact, across core operations and entire value chains.

“In 2020, building on a decade of investment into solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of our business, Nespresso announced a number of ambitious measures to accelerate our green agenda and ensure that by the end of 2022, our customers will be able to drink a carbon neutral cup of coffee.”

Earlier this year, Nespresso extended its strategic partnership with Datwyler until 2030.

The new contract covered its aluminium capsules and seals production for portioned coffee product lines.
