Ardagh Metal Packaging’s director of regulatory affairs for Europe and energy transition, Robert-Jan ter Morsche, has been elected as president of GIE La Boîte Boisson.

GIE La Boîte Boisson is the body that promotes the interests of the French can making industry – its three main members are Ardagh Metal Beverage Group, Ball Packaging Europe and Crown Bevcan Europe.

Robert-Jan Ter Morsche said: “For this new presidency, which I have the pleasure of ensuring for the next two years, my objective is first of all to continue the work started by my predecessors for the continuous increase in the recycling rate of our packaging, which, with 73%, already makes cans the most recycled beverage packaging in the world! 

“The other major challenge for our sector is to continue to innovate and develop our production capacities to support the current and future strong market growth. 

“Today, 4.8 billion cans, 80% of which come from French factories, are sold each year in France. According to the estimates, more than a billion additional cans will be sold within five years.”
